AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils have been re-formulated with new high performance additive technology that provides even greater multi-functional benefits for the special requirements of motorcycle applications. These independent and exclusive new AMSOIL formulations provide second-to-none viscosity protection for hot running American and foreign motorcycle engines, transmissions and primary chaincases. AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCV) is recommended for Harley-Davidson, Buell, Victory, Ducati, BMW, Aprilla and Triumph motorcycles calling for a 15W-50 or 20W-50 viscosity, providing superior protection in engines, transmissions and primary chaincases. AMSOIL 10W-40 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCF) is recommended for Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW, Husqvarna and KTM motorcycles calling for a 10W-40 or 20W-40 viscosity, providing superior protection in engines and transmissions.
Improved Transmission Protection
AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils not only provide superior protection for motorcycle engines, they also provide superior gear protection, meeting API GL-1 gear lube viscosity requirements. AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-40 Motorcycle Oil (MCF) meets SAE 80W-90 gear lube requirements, while AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil (MCV) meets SAE 90 gear lube viscosity requirements. Viscosity is the most important characteristic of a lubricant. Motorcycle gears create a shearing effect that causes permanent oil viscosity loss. This thinning effect reduces the oil’s ability to prevent metal-to-metal contact and wear. The stability and natural operating temperature ranges of the premium synthetic base stocks used to formulate AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils eliminate shear and reduce wear. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils exhibit absolute shear stability as measured by the Kurt Orbon shear stability test. The high temperatures and tight tolerances common to motorcycle applications also affect viscosity. The High Temperature/High Shear (HTHS) Test (ASTM D-4683) measures a lubricant’s viscosity under severe high temperature and shear conditions. The more resistant an oil is to high temperature viscosity loss, the better it protects, and even a HTHS difference of 0.1 cP makes a significant difference. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils exhibit higher HTHS viscosities than competing conventional and synthetic motorcycle oils. As seen in the graphs, AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 and 10W-40 Motorcycle Oils displayed the highest High Temperature/High Shear viscosities in their respective test groups, providing motorcycle engines and transmissions operating in the harshest conditions with superior protection against wear and viscosity loss and eliminating the need for separate gear case oils as recommended by some competitors. Synthetic 10W-40 may also be used in two-cycle transmissions.
Excellent Wet Clutch Performance
Many motorcycles utilize a clutch that is immersed in the motor oil. The friction modifiers present in many automotive motor oils and the extreme pressure additives present in EP gear lubricants produce a low coefficient of friction between the clutch discs and plates, resulting in clutch slippage and glazing. Slippage leads to increased operating temperatures and reduced clutch life. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils are formulated without friction modifiers, providing positive clutch engagement, longer equipment life and reduced temperatures. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils meet the clutch compatibility requirements mandated by JASO MA.
Excellent Corrosion Protection
Most motorcycles spend the majority of their lives either parked or in storage, but most motorcycle oils fail to address corrosion problems. Corrosion protection during storage and in humid conditions is essential to extending equipment life. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils are formulated with specialized additive technology that not only protect against corrosion and acids during operation, but also provide exceptional protection during storage. The ASTM D-1748 Rust Test measures a lubricant’s ability to protect against rust and corrosion. A standard metal reference coupon is immersed in the test oil before being placed in a humidity cabinet for 24 hours at 120 degrees F. As seen in the photos, the reference coupon treated with AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil showed no signs of rust and corrosion, while the competitor failed the test.
Outstanding Heat Resistance
Motorcycles operate in demanding, high heat conditions that require robust high temperature deposit control additives. While many conventional oils break down and oxidize when faced with high temperatures, causing formation of carbon and sludge deposits, AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils effectively withstand oil breakdown and oxidation, keeping equipment running cooler and minimizing oil consumption, thickening and emissions. Air-cooled engines get especially hot while idling in traffic, commonly reaching temperatures up to 240 degrees Fahrenheit. The extra margin of protection provided by AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils is especially important for hot running air cooled motorcycle engines.
Foam Control
High engine speeds and transmission gears in motorcycles churn the oil, suspending air and causing foam. When this oil and air mixture is drawn into a loaded area, the air compresses and decreases the thickness of the oil film, compromising wear protection. In addition, suspended air promotes oil oxidation, reducing its service life. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils greatly reduce foaming to provide long term lubricating protection in high speed, high RPM conditions.
Robust Additive Levels
Recent automotive motor oil regulations have limited certain additive levels, including the anti-wear additive known as ZDDP. ZDDP is an extremely effective antiwear, anti-oxidant additive, and reducing its level results in compromised wear control and shortened service life. Because motorcycle applications require robust additive systems to control wear and oxidation, use of an automotive motor oil or an automotive motor oil re-labeled as a motorcycle oil compromises protection and performance. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils are overtreated with robust additive packages, including high levels of calcium, phosphorus, zinc and additional oxidation inhibitors, to extend oil life expectancy, provide unmatched engine cleanliness and greatly reduce wear. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils are recommended for twice the manufacturer’s recommended drain interval for on-road motorcycles. The Four Ball Wear Test (ASTM D-4172) determines the wear protection properties of a lubricant. The smaller the average wear scar, the better the wear protection provided by the lubricant. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils produce significantly smaller wear scars than competing motorcycle oils, providing unsurpassed protection against engine wear, reducing maintenance costs and extending equipment life.
Cost Effective
AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils provide excellent cost effectiveness and are cost competitive with competing high end motorcycle oils. The unmatched protection and performance provided by AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils is excellent insurance for today’s expensive motorcycles and custom bikes.

In 1972, AMSOIL INC. introduced AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-40 Motor Oil and became the first company in the world to market and manufacture an American Petroleum Institute (API) rated synthetic motor oil. In 1975, AMSOIL introduced a synthetic diesel oil, and with it, coined the term “extended drain intervals” Since then, AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils have been used as extended drain lubricants in transportation, equipment and stationary engine applications. In every industry, they have proven effective in improving engine durability and fuel economy. AMSOIL customers report significant savings realized through reductions in downtime, parts replacement, lubricant replacement, lubricant disposal and fuel consumption.Fleet demonstrations and independent testing confirm what AMSOIL customers report: using AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils saves money.
AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils lubricate and protect diesel engines better than conventional lubricants do.
Volatility— AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils’ volatility is exceptionally low which keeps oil consumption rates low and inhibits oil thickening. For example, AMSOIL Synthetic 15W-40 Heavy Duty Diesel and Marine Oil loses only 6.27 percent of its mass to volatility in the Noack Volatility Test. Other popular 15W-40 oils lose as much as 16.98 percent.
Thermal Stability— The excellent thermal stability of AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils helps keep oil oxidation rates low, inhibits sludge formation and ensures proper engine lubrication and protection. It is a critical factor in safely extending oil drain intervals.
Oxidation Resistance — AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils’ outstanding oxidation resistance keeps engines cleaner longer for efficient operation and long life. Oxidation resistance is also a critical factor in extended drain intervals.
Low Temperature Performance— The cold temperature fluidity of AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils enables cold engines to start easily, protects cold engines from premature wear after engine startup, promotes excellent cold temperature fuel economy and eliminates or reduces the need for inventories of seasonal oils.
Fully formulated motor oils contain additives that perform functions the lubricating oil base-stocks alone can’t perform. For example, detergent-alkalinity additives inhibit the formation of deposits on hot engine surfaces and neutralize acids. Dispersants inhibit wear caused by soot and debris. Viscosity index improvers give lubricants multi-grade viscosity. Other additives inhibit lubricant oxidation, metal oxidation, rust and foam or prevent component damage when a full film of lubricant isn’t present to prevent it. AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils are formulated with the highest quality additives available to ensure proper lubrication and protection in extended drain use.
Wear Protection — Wear protection is provided by the lubricating oil in areas where a full lubricating film develops between moving parts, such as the bearings. It is provided by anti-wear additives in areas where a full film does not develop, such as the valve train. The Four Ball Wear Test (ASTM D4172B), a test designed to measure the effectiveness of anti-wear additive systems, shows AMSOIL Series 3000 Synthetic 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil produced wear scars as much as 39 percent smaller than those produced by competing petroleum and synthetic diesel oils. That’s significantly better wear protection.
Shear Stability — Some VI improvers break down in demanding operating conditions. When an oil’s VI improver breaks down or shears, the oil no longer retains its intended viscosity over its intended temperature range, rendering the oil unable to protect the engine from premature wear in high temperatures. AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils are highly shear stable. Shear stability is especially important for engines that operate at constant speed, such as stationary engines, marine engines and farm tractors.
TBN and Detergent-Alkalinity —AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils are formulated with 12 Total Base Number (TBN) , a high value designed to provide superior control of corrosion and high temperature deposits in extended drain service. Most conventional diesel oils’ TBN equals 8. AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils’ highly effective detergent-alkalinity additives help piston crownlands and compression ring zones stay clean, inhibit bore polishing and piston deposits, minimize cylinder liner wear, minimize ring wear and breakage, and help keep oil consumption rates low. The ability of AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils to maintain high TBN values sets these oils apart as superior extended drain lubricants.
Dispersancy— Dispersants control soot and other contaminants and inhibit the formation of sludge and deposits on low temperature areas, such as the piston skirts and adjacent areas. Lasting control of soot, other contaminants and low temperature deposits are an integral element of AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils’ extended drain capabilities.
Complete Protection—AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils also contain anti-foaming agents to prevent persistent oil foaming, anti-rust agents to inhibit rusting and antioxidants and metal deactivators, both of which retard oxidation processes.
Superior Profitability
AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils save diesel operators money through increased fuel economy, increased engine durability, reduced oil inventories and extended lubricant drain intervals.
Fuel Economy — Independent testing and fleet demonstrations show engines equipped with AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils operate with better fuel economy than engines equipped with other diesel oils do. Fuel mileage improvements in excess of three percent have been documented in independent testing.
Engine Durability — Fleet demonstration oil analyses comparing the performance of AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils to competitive products show lower rates of wear metal generation with AMSOIL products. Engine part inspections confirm the outstanding wear protection provided by AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils. Lower rates of engine wear improve engine durability, providing longer intervals until first engine teardown, greater intervals between overhauls and longer engine life.
Oil Inventories — The outstanding low temperature fluidity and high temperature protectiveness of AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils eliminate the need for special inventories of seasonal oils. AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils are also formulated for use in gasoline engines, so separate oils for diesel and gasoline engines are also unnecessary.
Extended Drain Intervals — AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils bear the Mack EO-M, Volvo VDS and VDS 2 labels, showing they meet Volvo’s demanding extended drain performance specifications. Fleet demonstration results and the experiences of owner-operators confirm that AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils provide excellent extended drain service.
Compared to microscopic dirt particles, your engine is a Goliath, roaring with heat and energy as it converts fuel into raw horsepower. But despite all this power, your engine is extremely vulnerable to the threat of microscopic engine dirt. In fact, if unchecked, this tiny menace will dramatically erode your engine’s performance and can eventually cripple it beyond repair.
THE PROBLEMS
Engine Wear — Automotive experts agree that dirt is the number one cause of engine wear. At first glance, it does not seem possible. Engine dirt particles are so small — mere dust specks — and an engine is a highly sophisticated piece of machinery, crafted from the most durable metal alloys. How can these minute particles bring down such a high-tech giant? The answer lies in the fact that dirt particles are extremely abrasive. They consist of razor-like flakes of road dust and airborne grit drawn into the engine through the air intake, as well as manufacturing scarf and wear metal particles generated inside the engine. These particles are carried by the oil into the precision clearances between bearings and other moving parts. Once they work in between these parts, they grind and gouge surfaces, altering clearances, and generating more abrasive debris. As this wear cycle continues, precision components become progressively sloppy and fatigued until they fail altogether.
Oil Degradation — In addition to physically assaulting engine components, dirt and other contaminants work to degrade the oil that provides vital engine lubrication. Sooty particles generated during combustion can be forced past piston rings and into the oil. These particles act like tiny sponges, absorbing critical additives and shortening oil life. Soot also wreaks havoc with viscosity by causing oil to thicken. And in the presence of moisture, common byproducts of combustion will react chemically to produce corrosive and rust-producing acids.
THE SOLUTION
Ea Filters
Ea Oil and Ea Air Filters are the Absolute best
Filtration Availablefor cars and light trucks.
Ea Oil Filters
Absolute Efficiency
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters have the best efficiency rating in the industry. EaO Filters provide a filtering efficiency in accordance with industry standard ISO 4548-12 of 98.7 percent at 15 microns and 50 percent at 7 microns.
Less Restriction
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters have significantly lower restriction than conventional cellulose media filters. Their small synthetic nanofibers trap smaller particles and hold more contaminants, resulting in lower restriction. During the engine warm-up period, an EaO lube filter allows the oil to flow through the filter at a colder temperature than a typical cellulose filter. The additional filtering time decreases engine wear.
More Capacity
A filter’s capacity refers to the amount of contaminants it can hold and still remain effective. AMSOIL EaO Filters have a far greater capacity than competing filter lines. When used in conjunction with AMSOIL synthetic motor oils in normal service, EaO Filters are guaranteed to remain effective for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.
Superior Construction
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are made with premium-grade full synthetic media. The strictly controlled processing of this media ensures accurate filter construction, and is what allows Ea Oil Filters to deliver higher capacity and efficiency along with better durability. Over the service life of a conventional cellulose filter, hot oil will degrade the resins that bind the media. EaO Filters’ full synthetic media technology uses a wire screen backing that is pleated with the media for superior strength. Ea Oil Filters are constructed with HNBR nitrile gaskets that are fully tested to extreme distances in numerous severe environments. The filters also feature fully tucked seams, a molded element seal, roll-formed threads and a long-lasting premium-grade silicone anti-drain valve.
Applications
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters provide superior oil filtration for vehicles in the auto/light truck market.
Service Life
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are guaranteed for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, when used in conjunction with AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oil. AMSOIL recommends changing the oil filter at the time of oil change. If used in conjunction with AMSOIL Motor Oil that is being changed at intervals less than 25,000 miles, the EaO Filter should be changed at the same time. AMSOIL EaO Filters are not guaranteed for 25,000 miles when used with any oil other than AMSOIL Motor Oil and should be changed according to vehicle OEM recommendations.
Ea Air Filters
AMSOIL Ea Air Filters represent a major breakthrough in filtration technology. The revolutionary nanofiber technology used in AMSOIL Ea Filters captures more dirt, holds more dirt and allows better air flow than conventional air filters. AMSOIL Ea Filters improve engine performance and help engines last longer.
Absolute Efficiency
AMSOIL Ea Air Filters are the most efficient filters available to the car/light truck market. Ea Air Filters’ synthetic nanofiber media removes 5 times more dust than traditional cellulose filter media alone and 50 times more dust than wet gauze filter media. AMSOIL Ea Air Filters have a service life of 100,000 miles or four years, whichever comes first.
Better Air Flow
AMSOIL Ea Air Filters allow more airflow than filters that use cellulose media alone. Cellulose fibers are larger than nanofibers, and have larger spaces between the fibers, causing contaminants to load in the depth of the media and plug the airflow path, which results in higher restriction and less capacity. The synthetic nanofibers in EaA Filter media have submicron diameters and small interfiber spaces, which result in more contaminants being captured on the surface of the media and lower restriction.
More Capacity
AMSOIL Ea Air Filters hold up to five times more contaminants than cellulose air filters. Since the nanofibers in the media are so small there are more pores per square inch, allowing for higher dirt-holding capacity and lower pressure drop when compared to cellulose filter media alone. Thinner media fibers produce more uniform pore size distribution, improving the filter’s overall quality and ability to capture and retain particles. Testing shows that Ea Air Filters hold 15 times more contaminants than a wet gauze type filter.
Cleanable - Longer Life
When cleaned according to AMSOIL specifications and used in normal service, AMSOIL Ea Air Filters are guaranteed for 100,000 miles or four years, whichever comes first. EaA Filters remain effective for 25,000 miles or one year before requiring cleaning. This coincides with the AMSOIL 25,000-mile/one-year motor oil drain interval, adding even more convenience for motorists by consolidating routine maintenance.
Applications
AMSOIL Ea Air Filters provide superior air filtration for vehicles in the auto/light truck market.
Cleaning
EaA filters should be cleaned every year or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. Carefully remove the filter from the housing. Clean the housing with a shop towel, being careful not to knock contaminants into the air inlet. Filters can be cleaned by carefully vacuuming the filter media on the dirty side, or by holding the filter with one hand and carefully blowing the filter media at a 45 degree angle on the clean side using low-pressure shop air (15-20 lbs. psi).
Service Life
AMSOIL Ea Air Filters are guaranteed for four years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. The guarantee applies only if the filter has been serviced according to AMSOIL recommendations. In off-road, frequently dusty or other severe duty applications, clean and change more often as determined by operating conditions or as indicated by restriction gauge.
AMSOIL Warranty
AMSOIL warrants that its filtration products are fit for use according to AMSOIL’s recommendations and warrants its products to be free of defective materials, design and workmanship.
